Our health DNA test results can only be put to their best possible use with the advice of your GP, a qualified nutritionist or a genetic counsellor. This is something we strongly recommend.

Furthermore, seeking advice prior to getting your DNA test would also be sensible. A medical professional can offer guidance on the next steps that should be taken to prevent onset of disease. Most genetic councillors enter the field from a variety of disciplines, including biology, genetics, nursing, psychology; public health and social work. Your genetic councillor is your DNA health test advisor who will make the results meaningful to you. Genetic health test results are not straightforward and to really be able to make significant changes to your life, to understand what your genetic predisposition really means and how you can improve your health, the supervision of an expert is mandatory. Besides lifestyle changes and diet, you can also learn about the family risks, the hereditary factors, implications, consequences and how best to adapt and manage your life.   Remember that ideally, you would inform your genetic councillor that you are carrying out a DNA health test. Our test only looks at a limited number of variants related to breast cancer. If you have a family history of breast and ovarian cancer and are looking for a clinical result to confirm if you have the disease causing variant in the gene or not then you need to order a complete BRCA 1 and 2 test.
